On Saturday, June 11, CARSTAR Collision Centres in Canada and the United States will aim to break the Guinness World Record for the World's largest car wash by washing more than 4,100 cars in eight hours at multiple venues. The North America-wide world record attempt will see more than 120 events taking place to break the current record set by CARSTAR in 2009.

In Canada, volunteers and staff from CARSTAR locations will roll up their sleeves and break out the buckets and sponges for the eighth annual Soaps It Up for Cystic Fibrosis National Car Wash Event. The funds raised at the car wash will support Cystic Fibrosis Canada and local charities.

After eight years of success in Canada, this marks the third consecutive year that CARSTAR U.S. will be taking part in Soaps It Up. Funds raised from the American car wash events will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"The passion, enthusiasm and commitment of CARSTAR's nationwide network of franchise partners, and customers and support of local communities across Canada have made Soaps It Up our largest and most successful annual fundraising event for eight years running," said Mercanti. "We're hoping to reach some important milestones in 2011 - we want to break a Guinness World Record and we want to hit the 2 million dollar mark for funds raised for Cystic Fibrosis Canada, so we need Canadians to come out to their local CARSTAR Soaps It Up car wash on June 11 to help us make a big splash."

In the last ten years, more than $1.8 million has been raised by CARSTAR Collision Repair Centres to help find a cure. This year, CARSTAR Canada has set a goal to raise $125,000, putting the total raised during CARSTAR Canada's partnership with Cystic Fibrosis Canada at over $2 million.
